Tuesday church (TC) is the youngest church of the DPC family. It was started in September 2007 and is an attempt to offer a fresh, alternate styled church, meeting mid-week.
Three things give Tuesday church its distinctive style. 1) A Tuesday meeting (7pm). Our aim is to reach those people for whom weekend meetings are unsuitable. For this reason our main meeting is midweek, nontraditional and often a bit more interactive than most other church meetings. We start by having refreshments together so as to get the evening off in a relaxed and friendly way. On the first tuesday of every month we also enjoy dinner together, an event which is rapidly turning into a real highlight of our church life. In order to make our evenings family friendly, we also have a children's program (KFC - Kids For Christ) which operates during school terms. 2) An uncluttered program. At TC we meet on a tuesday night, meet in smaller growth groups (so as to read the Bible and pray together)... and that's about it. We don’t want to clutter our lives up with lots of church obligations which might hinder us from having the time to spend with friends and family who don’t know Jesus yet. This leads onto our 3rd distinctive 3) A missional outlook. At TC we desperately want everyone to know Jesus. Because of that we see everyone in our church family as a missionary - we all have people whom God has uniquely placed in our lives and its up to us to tell them the good news of Jesus Christ. So as to emphasise this, we have a regular “mission time” in our meetings: a chance to meet, encourage, support and pray for a specific person in our church family. |
