Children's Bibles

We were at Koorong on holidays and I was reminded of how many rubbish Children's Bible's there are out there that actually change the stories and say things the Bible doesn't say. Very disappointing!

So here are some of the Children's Bibles we have found to be good.

Read with me Bible

An NIV Story Bible for Children by Doris  Rikkers.

This one has funny pictures but the wording is real good!

For example, in Genesis 1 it picks up the repeating rhythm 'And God said', 'and there was evening, and there was morning, the fourth day' etc. Good for 3-8 year olds.

The Beginners Bible.

by ZonderKids

This one has fantastic pictures, the text is not quite as good but still pretty good.

For example, in Genesis 1 it retells the story but loses most of the repeating words like 'And God said'. Still it's real good. Good for 3-8 year olds.

The Big Picture Story Bible

David Helm

THis one we love to use to micx things up a bit. It's not so much a book of Bible stories but a book explaining the big overall story of the Bible - that God made the world, that people did things wrong and so on. SO it's not a replacement for a Bible, but it's great to read through to help your Kids understand the Bible.  Good for 3 - 12 year olds.

Read Aloud Bible Stories

Ella Lindvall

This is a series, there is Volume 1, 2, 3 and so on and each book has 5 or so stories in it, like the boy who shared his lunch.

Excellent for very young kids as it has things like 'Every day Simon got into his boat - splish splash, splish splash' It retells the stories very well, putting them in a young Child's language.  At the end of each story it has a 'What have you learned page' which applies the story, these are good most of the time.
